Bingley Market

We love visiting Bingley Market on a weekend to see what interesting things they have. There are loads of stalls to choose from including cupcakes, fruit and veg, a fish monger, fresh pizzas, a cheese stall, fresh coffee, fresh pies and bread. I recently saw a stall selling really cool kids pumps all individually designed. Thats the best thing about Bingley market, you never know quite what's going to be on and sometimes there are some really innovative stalls.

We like to go down on a Saturday as a family. Our children much prefer it to a boring old supermarket and it also provides opportunities for learning as my older son can pay for things he wants and learns about money and improve his social skills.

I only wish Bingley market always operated at full capacity as sometimes it can look a little sorry and empty. What's your favourite stall?

Day out to St Ives

St Ives, Harden Nr Bingley
There are lots of things to do in Bingley, one of the best places to go for a day out, particularly in summer, is St Ives estate.  There is an amazing adventure playground with a sandpit complete with diggers, a shake shake bridge that moves up and down, a sort of walk on xylophone and of course a zip wire.

There are also various other things there like a big horse riding place and a golf course. All in all it is pretty lovely. There are plenty of free places to park and lots of places to have a family picnic.  There is a large lake with duck feeding points and a pushchair friendly walk on pretty flat paving all the way round. There is also a nice cafe where you can sit outside and in, having a relaxing latte.  If you walk round on the various routes round the estate you can also find the famous statues like the one in the picture above. It's a lovely place for a day out with the family, or just out walking alone through the bluebells in spring. Beautiful.

New Blog About Bingley!

Having lived in Bingley for nearly five years now,  I thought it was high time I started writing about it. Bingley is a little town north of Bradford in between Keighley and Ilkley. I love living here, there are loads of things to do and interesting people here that you just wouldn't expect. There is a really diverse population from those living in high rise flats to millionaires in seven bedroom mansions, unusual for such a small place.

Sadly though, Bingley seems to have been forgotten about. There used to be a thriving fine foods market every April, nothing this year. There was talk of a large supermarket chain starting work soon, this has never happened. Let's not forget the building of the new shopping centre, sadly most of the units remain empty. What is going on? What can we, the residents of Bingley do to promote the interests of Bingley and ourselves?

I am going to start a personal campaign to help Bingley, starting NOW.
